Poor Sri Lanka's President

What a surprise when I've discovered that Her Excellency Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, President of Sri Lanka.... is a beautiful woman !! : so I've read her 2005 wishes, words that really gives hopes if such a calamity can produce peace in exchange. That should be the deal so I could better accept.
and I copy her speech an address to the nation, December 28, on the tsunami disaster
"This is a moment of great humility for us all. We have been incredibly humbled by Nature's great forces. An ineluctable truth has been laid bare before us all. The mighty forces of Nature have compelled us to learn a lesson that some of us refused for long to learn. We have to act together, if we are to emerge from the ashes of this destruction. Loss of life, loss and destruction of property take place irrespective of whether it is in the North or South. It does not differentiate between the Sinhalese, Tamils or Muslims."

>> The Tsunami Information Management Centre for Sri Lanka has been created recently to merge helpful addresses, phone numbers...

I found very interesting this updated and very detailed MAP of AFFECTED AREAS.

>> I was wondering since few days what was doing Dalai Lama?. I've finally found on the official website that His Holiness the Dalai Lama has sent letters to the leaders Tsunami-hit countries and has contributed 500000 Rupees to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.

At the Tsuglakhang main temple was attended by a large number of monks, nuns and lay public on Tuesday. Prayers were offered for the rebirth of the dead in the higher realms, welfare of the families of the dead and healthy balance of the earth's natural forces. "
He also declared special thought to the people of Sri Lanka, country where is has never been allowed to visit.

>> A french guy, 58, living in Thailand since 5 years is publishing rare personal pictures of the Tsunami in Khao Lak , Pukhet... weblog in french, anyway g to see the destructions pages 1 to 3.

Wild Animals' 'Sixth Sense' & Tsunami

I've read this incredible news today, I'd like to find confirmations somewhere else because all articles source this same Sri Lanka's report. If that's true, that's such a meaning subject. Tsunami Adds to Belief in Animals' 'Sixth Sense'
"Wild animals seem to have escaped the Indian Ocean tsunami, adding weight to notions they possess a "sixth sense" for disasters. Sri Lankan wildlife officials have said the giant waves that killed over 24,000 people along the Indian Ocean island's coast seemingly missed wild beasts, with no dead animals found. No elephants are dead, not even a dead hare or rabbit."

Patrick's boss yesterday was supposed to go to Thailand in Kho Samui with his whole family for New Year's Eve holidays. We were wondering first if they were there since Christmas, and I was praying Patrick to call his brother to have some comforting informations. What a surprise when he met him in his car in Marseille and by the window said to Patrick: with those events, I'm wondering if I can leave or not for my holidays; I'm not sure they will LET me GO !!
How can he DARE even ask the question about his going or not. At this state, I've been thinking to this many times, that's not selfishness but incounsciousness, this guy does not understand what happens farest than his own nose and I finally think he should go and maybe, maybe, he could feel some shame and pity for what's around.

I'm also very shocked by tourists back at Pukhet swimming between the bloating corpses. (that's an image, can they feel swimming there and still stay on the beach ?).
Read this article in the Bangkok post, about the tourism orientation changes in Thailand.

and know that : "It was business as usual yesterday evening in Patong, where the streets were crowded with tourists just 300 metres from the stricken Phuket beach."
Who are these tourists ? who are these people ? what do they seek ? What in their mind ?

Donors & Tsunami amateur video

>> Question since Tsunami is : how can we help ? what to do from our home in Aubagne ? answer is given now on all charity organizations websites :
Tsunami DONORS: Send cash, not bread
Read all info about it here :

a good information here :

>> UNICEF executive director Carol Bellamy said children could account for up to a third of the dead.
For UNICEF, one of my favorite actor,Jackie Chan, has made a personal donation of a half million Hong Kong dollars (US$64,000) to help tsunami victims. "After the ceremonies, the Hong Kong movie star recorded a multilingual appeal to his millions of fans around the world to join him in supporting UNICEF?s relief efforts across the region." see it here
I've also choosen UNICEF to donate, my personal trust is for caring first the children.

>> Today amateur video I have collected as testimony, I'll update it with new founds :

Rare video of Tsunami : on Reuters TV website click here

>>HELL in PARADISE. Lands of Andaman and Nicobars are probably the worth. I've read the survivors become low in coconuts and fear the lack of proper food and water. I don't know why, but I especially think of this lost people in the isolated islands, with dead bodies coming back on the strand, nobody can help make burials, because nobody's coming yet.
I've found lot of updated infos on the situation there on this website : but it seems that traffic is intense so it's very difficult to reach the page (file in pdf).

Sofitel Khao Lak is Hell

>> Khao Lak, Magic Lagoon, well....on the Sofitel website, on this specific page about the Hotel near Pukhet where so many tourists have desapeared in the disaster Accor published an updated infomation with emergency numbers.

>The word NICOBAR means "Land of the NAKED"
Also, I'read these articles on Yahoo India and Express India (better details) , you know they were exploring the islands of Nicobar, Andaman and isolated others, still not reached today. They had a new replica today 5.1 on Richter scale, rescued and living people miss all, they eat coconuts and are so far from the coats. Many indigene tribes may have diseapeared. Can we imagine thousand people living like Robinson just with coconuts. and for how long ?
Need more details ? : Ive found this indin guy blog about help & emergency, recent posts especially for Nicobar & islands :

Filling me with fear also, tsunami power included in this info : "Another island, TRINKET, has been split in two. " Trinket is a narrow, long and almost flat island with an area of 3626 hectares. Trinket is surrounded by about 303 hectares of mangroves and densely populated corals that provide a suitable habitat for tropical biodiversity.
If you have time, have a look to this study : Environmental Relations on Trinket Island, especially chapter 2 : The Geographical and Historical Context

I've found god infos about the Nicobar and Andaman island in the website : click here to see . Do you know how many little isles ? 572 islands of which only 36 are inhabited, islets prominent ones being Ritchie's Archipelago and the Labyrinth (!!) Islands. (total 319).

Have a look to the coast map and see that's impossible to explore all and quickly rescue people.

Ultralow calorie diets & Virtual Presenter

I still think of the disaster consequences and hate we have to wait replicas'.
I've found few thinks on th internet today : a virtual presenter for your website, not so good as the "avatar" in Yahoo massenger and looks like a not yet finished Sim's 2.
Here it is a website using it on purpose : That's a good idea, but I'll wait for better avatar. I'm very interested by audio now on for this blog and next step to my business websites.

Food : in the last Newsweeks (January 26th) about ultra-low-calorie diets which should extend human life, read the KEY for all failing diets turning into ugly Yo-Yo: "What accounts for the strange phenomenon that semi-starvation appears to prolong life ? One theory is that calorie restriction slows metabolism, the burning of glucose for energy. This effect - which presumably serves the evolutionary purpose of conserving calories during periods of famine - is well know to dieters (nb :that's the information); as they eat less, their metabolic rate drops, and it becomes harder to burn off fat..."

Tsunamis hit southern Thailand

Today is not the day for catastroph, we had to finish the smoked salmon and three boxes of chocolates, but just befor lunch, Patrick was coming back from Aubagn's open market and says I've heard a disaster on radio, we should no miss the breaking news, and the christmas food looked quite strange after that.
read here : Bangkok's info today." Everything was washed away except two large hotels on Phi Phi Don island" // "Several foreign divers have been killed while about 70 were exploring the famed Emeral Cave off southern Thailand" // Also you can read Yahoo India for much details.

Girls ! Brad Pitt is FREE, OUT the Aniston !!!

Super good news today !! "Aniston removes wedding ring Actress Jennifer Aniston has fuelled speculation her marriage to Brad Pitt is in turmoil - by taking off her wedding ring.Rumours the relationship is deteriorating were first sparked during filming of Mr and Mrs Smith this summer when Pitt was romantically linked to his co-star Angelina Jolie." So the lesson of this story is : NEVER GIVE UP !! One of the top beauty (I speak of Brad because I find Jenifer's face and style ugly) was out of the market (love market) and millions of fans desesperate by his bad taste, now on, he's on the way back !! and we'll see him more in magazine, one day with Angelina, the other day alone, the other day with a girl-next-door....
The bad boy right now is Hugh Grant. Getting married..what ridiculous !! Hugh Grant Married....

Have you ever heard CRUNK music ?

My last discovery is Crunk music, since last two days, I've asked friends around me about this music and each time they laugh !! ah ah crunch, it's chocolate, and trust I was a fool. They'll know (revenge revenge) in few months them ignorants !!! listen Houston - Crunk is the combination of "Crazy" and "Drunk", by other accounts it's southern shorthand for cranked? or cranked up.? This loud, high energy music was made mainstream by the success of Lil Jon, featuring pounding bass heavy beats and frenetic chants, crunk is almost synonymous with club music and usually has repetitive lyrics. I've also heard of native american (like Navarro...) crunk music, but could not find it on internet yet.

Christmas ? : we join Marco and Sylvie at Six-Fours where I 'll bring my christmas emasculated roster, which we call in french a "chapon", do not know in english, it's a big chicken, very fat we cut the bollocks and let him grow and becomes fat like a small pig, minimum weight is 3 kg.
For New Year's Eve, we're still available and have no ideas, except crazy one like going to marry in Las Vegas, going to Firenze in Italy, going in Tarifa south Spain 14 hours non stop driving, ....I'll let you know.

Medieval has no Kellog's Corn Flakes or Nutella

I was wondering how was breakfast in the medieval period, poor workers woke up with the rising sun, and, next what ???? do not have croissant, brioche, Kellog's, Nutella, Rice Crispies ??? what were they eating, and the kids ??
I've found many (very serious) ressources, and the answer is sad :
In the Middle Ages breakfast was, in fact, practically nonexistent during the earlier medieval period. The earliest breakfast was undoubtedly just a chunk of bread and a mug of watered wine !!
... nibbling a breakfast could be censured as contributing to the sin of gluttony !!!
And here it is the full Breakfast Foods List of my poor ancestors :
Anchovies - smoked or preserved.
Bread - any variety.
Herring - smoked or preserved.
Salmon - smoked or preserved.
Salt Fish - preserved pieces of filleted ling, hake, cod, or whiting.
Sop in Wine - toast or bread in wine.
Trout - smoked or preserved.

Podcasting : not clever enough ?

Next morning, Hi everybody.
I've downloaded iPodder, have seen it's only to check and download others podcasts, which are a pity to listen, and still do not understand how I can post my podcasts. Do not worry, I intend to publish nice music !!, not soliloquies from my own. Next try this evening.
Also, our DVD rental is clsoing, too many people copy and illegal download so we have to find an online rental, like glowria, dvdfly...example :

Iraq Body Count

I'm fed up with this war in Irak. I've been interested by this web link mentionned in a monthly newspaper "Le Monde Diplomatique" I read this morning (as I caught a virus in Paris, I'm home with light fever so have nothing better to do) :
Iraq Body Count is an independant association, mainly formed by british researchers and consultants, which "projects to establish an independent and comprehensive public database of media-reported civilian deaths in Iraq resulting directly from military action by the USA and its allies in 2003." Today, they have reported between 14 620 and 16 805 civilian deaths.

Transparent Trade

Transparent Trade We buy almost all our food organic, also shower gel, shampoo, cleaning stuff for the house, washing powder...we have a organic little supermaket very close to the house, I never go to the hudge Auchan, which is same as Wall Mart in the states. I go there to find my cat food, she doesn't want to eat organic food for pets! I've lost this game. Anyway, supermarkets sell more and more organic, but which does not taste and does not loook the same as in our organic supermaket. They invest in the Fair trade, and now Ive read they invest the comitees which give the faire trade labels. I've discovered this new movement against the "unfair" fair trade taken by dsitribution, it's the Transparent trade. Click on the title and you'll see the website, but it's in french. because organic food and stuff is now a growing market, we have to watch what is fair ad unfair and not buy fair when it's not ! do not want to be new pro-organic dummies.
